Worthy Investments

Straight to the point, here’s some things worth investing in.

  1. Good Coffee. A worrying amount of regular coffee drinkers spend £3+on a cup of coffee. This is usually from establishments like Starbucks and Costa where the coffee tastes like bitter dog shit. Invest £100, buy a handheld grinder, a handheld espresso machine, and fresh beans from a local supplier. Trust me, in the long run you’ll learn more about coffee, how to brew to your individual taste and overall, you’ll grow to love the process of brewing your own cup that far surpasses the taste of any high street brand at a fraction of the price.
  2. Good earphones/headphones. I’m one of those people that will refuse to listen to music from your shitty phone speakers in a public place. I’m a firm believer in that if you spend extended periods of time doing something, you should make that experience as enjoyable as possible. Pretty much everyone i know invests time in to their music listening but fail to upgrade from my shitty starter marley bud earphones. Buy a pair of WH-1000XM3 and Jabra Elite Active 65T — you’ll thank me later.
  3. A classic Casio watch. I like the idea that a watch can tell the time, i don’t need it to do much more than that. I can set alarms, time how long it takes my mate to down a pint and see in the dark with a £30 Casio watch from Amazon. Fuck a flashy watch, if you wear it daily then it’s bound to get ruined.
  4. £10 Amazon grooming kit. A one-stop shop for all your grooming needs. Nail clippers, mini-scissors, tweezers and more all included in one compact package. You’d be surprised by how often this comes in handy.
  5. A toolkit. If you ever want to stand a chance of becoming self-sufficient then a toolkit is an essential purpose. Not having to call a ‘professional’ any time a minor issue is liberating; your independence is a source of pride. From fixing your car to household problems, a toolkit almost always comes in handy.
  6. Solid Bagpack. I live in Scotland where it rains 9/12 months of the year. For eons i suffered through life with a shitty bigpack that couldn’t handle the weather. Within the past few months, i bought a tough, waterproof, multi-use bag-pack from Columbia. It’s been well worth the investment.
  7. Books. It perplexes me that more people don’t read. They’re literally the culmination of life-time of work and experience from an individual. All their life experiences and expertees are passed down in an easily digestible format, you’d be a fool not to read them. Many individuals, greater than yourself, have invested decades of time to pass on knowledge, utilise this.
  8. Spices. Nothing worse than staying over at a mates house and their spice cupboard consists of salt, pepper and oregano if you’re lucky. Spices are the key to making food taste good, use them.
  9. Yourself. More need not be said.
