Practicing In Public

Self-inflicted public obligation is my method of productivity. Let’s get started.

I’m writing this to publicly proclaim my commitment to writing for the foreseeable future. This is for me and me only. If you want to keep reading, then feel welcome, but don’t feel obligated to do so.

I’ve been struggling to write consistently for many months now. Significant events have unfolded simultaneously, and in the haze of responsibility, i’ve neglected the practice of writing. From completing university to moving home, it’s fair to say my schedule has been busy.

While these developments have been important, i’ve recently come to believe that writing — wether that be on Medium or any other platform — is paramount to my personal and professional development.

Thus, i’m here to publicly announce my commitment to write and publish one article a day for the next 60 days. No excuses, no caveats, nowhere to hide.

By pronouncing my devotion to writing publicly, i believe i’ll produce a catalyst within myself that works ferociously to prove myself right. Wether my productivity will be a result of my intrinsic drive or extrinsic avoidance of public shame — i’m not sure yet.

Regardless of length or quality, the objective is one article a day, every day. Could be complete and utter waffle but as long as it’s words on a page then i’m staying true to my commitment.

So here’s day Number 1. A 1 minute read about my next 60 days. Feel free to keep me true and call me on my bullshit. If you don’t see one article every day for the next 60 days then call me out.

As Always,

Yours Honestly,

Liam Lawson
